University of Benghazi African Media Cooperation Expands Through UTPA Partnership
The President of the University of Benghazi, Professor Eiz Eldeen Aldressi, received a delegation from the Union of Private Televisions in Africa (UTPA), headed by Dr. Abubakr Mohamed Abdullah. The meeting was attended by the Acting Minister of African Affairs, Dr. Issa Abdelmajid; the Acting Director of the Office of International Cooperation, Dr. Awad Belal; and several members of the office.
The delegation included the Secretary-General of the Union and representatives from 12 African countries, as part of an official visit aimed at strengthening academic and media cooperation between the University of Benghazi and media institutions across the African continent, contributing to expanded partnerships and the exchange of expertise.
The meeting addressed several topics of mutual interest, most notably: developing media training programs, enhancing the exchange of expertise between the two sides, and organising scientific events and conferences with an African dimension. The two parties also discussed the possibility of launching joint academic and professional programs focused on supporting specialised media and building human capacity in this field.
During the meeting, the University President emphasised the importance of openness to African institutions and strengthening strategic partnerships that serve common interests. He noted the University of Benghazi’s readiness to leverage its academic and research capabilities to support quality initiatives that enhance its regional and international presence.
For his part, the President of the Union of Private Televisions in Africa expressed his appreciation for the warm welcome, affirming the Union’s commitment to building fruitful cooperative relations with the University to support the development of media work in Africa and elevate professional performance.
The visit concluded with a field tour of several university facilities, during which the delegation reviewed the educational and research capabilities. They expressed their admiration for the level of infrastructure and the academic development taking place at the University, and commended the efforts of the Libyan Development and Reconstruction Fund in supporting development and reconstruction projects. They affirmed their aspiration to translate the outcomes of this meeting into concrete cooperation programs in the coming period.
