The theater troupe affiliated with Benghazi University participated in the ninth edition of the International University Festival held in Sidi Bouzid, Tunisia, from April 24th to May 2nd, 2024.
This edition featured 24 theater performances from several Arab countries, including Iraq, Oman, Morocco, Algeria, Saudi Arabia, Palestine, Tunisia, and Mauritania. The Benghazi University theater troupe presented a distinctive performance titled “On Hold.”
The festival was characterized by fruitful intellectual and cultural exchange, including discussions of the theater performances and hosting intellectual seminars aimed at enhancing and developing university theater in the participating countries. Experiences and knowledge were exchanged among the participating troupes, enriching the university theater scene in the region.
The participation of the Benghazi University theater troupe in this festival is an important opportunity to strengthen cultural and artistic cooperation between universities in Arab countries, exchange experiences and knowledge in the field of theater. Moreover, this participation contributes to developing the skills of troupe members and enhancing their artistic and expressive capabilities.
It is worth mentioning that theater professors, led by artist Dr. Khaled Bouzid, praised the abilities of Libyan actors in all the periods in which they participated in such festivals, as well as the professionalism and mastery they demonstrated in the texts they presented.
