Faculty of Medicine Marks the National and International Antibiotic Resistance Awareness Day

The Faculty of Medicine at the University of Benghazi witnessed a strong turnout today from faculty members, students, researchers, and medical professionals during the activities of the Scientific Awareness Day. The event comes as part of the University’s academic efforts to highlight the risks associated with the improper use of antibiotics and to support global initiatives aimed at reducing antimicrobial resistance.

Organised under the theme:
Antibiotic Resistance… A Global Threat and a Shared Responsibility

The programme featured specialised scientific lectures and research presentations addressing the latest developments related to antimicrobial resistance. It also included academic discussions that examined the clinical and public health challenges facing healthcare systems worldwide, as well as strategies to strengthen proper practices in prescribing and using antibiotics.

At the conclusion of the Scientific Awareness Day, participants outlined a set of key recommendations aimed at mitigating the escalating challenge of antibiotic resistance, an increasingly critical health crisis that demands informed action and genuine collaboration across health, educational, and community sectors.

The Faculty of Medicine at the University of Benghazi affirmed that launching such initiatives, supported by rigorous scientific content, delivers a clear message to the medical and nursing community and to the public at large. These efforts seek to promote awareness and encourage sound health practices in confronting this global threat.
