International Research Achievement by Researchers from the Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine and Surgery in the Field of Nanotechnology Applications

As part of the ongoing efforts of the President of the University of Benghazi, Professor Eiz Eldeen Aldressi, to advance scientific research and international publication, a research team from the Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine and Surgery has achieved a new scientific milestone by publishing a research study in BMC Oral Health.

The journal is classified in the first quartile (Q1), is indexed in both Scopus and Web of Science, and has a CiteScore of 4.6.

The research team included Dr Fatema F. Elturki, Dr Ghada A. Gehani, Dr Hamza Alasbily, and Dr Muna S. Elburki. The study explored the use of topical nano-chitosan to alleviate injuries to the lingual mucosa caused by alendronate through histological, immunohistochemical, and molecular assessments, in addition to examination by electron microscopy.

This research represents a significant scientific contribution to the application of nanotechnology in oral medicine. It highlights the potential of nanomaterials to reduce oral complications associated with certain medications, thereby contributing to the development of therapeutic practices and opening new avenues for scientific research in this field.
