University of Benghazi President Meets French Ambassador to Boost Academic Ties

The President of the University of Benghazi, Prof. Eiz Eldeen Aldressi, received today in his office in Benghazi the Ambassador of the French Republic to Libya, Mr. Thierry Vallat, accompanied by his delegation, as part of efforts to strengthen bilateral relations and academic cooperation between the two countries.

During the meeting, the French Ambassador expressed his pleasure at the visit, conveying the French Republic’s keenness, represented by President Emmanuel Macron, to develop and strengthen relations with Libya, particularly in scientific and academic fields. He affirmed France’s interest in supporting partnerships between Libyan universities and their French counterparts, with a specific focus on the University of Benghazi.

For his part, the University President emphasised the depth of the historical relations between Libya and France, stressing the importance of improving the performance of scientific departments and expanding student and academic cooperation in support of scientific research and the exchange of expertise.

The meeting also included discussions on several issues of mutual interest related to student affairs, higher education, and postgraduate studies. The French delegation commended the efforts made to develop the educational process, expressing appreciation for the notable progress achieved by the University following the destruction it had previously suffered.

Following the meeting, the French delegation visited the University of Benghazi Library, where they expressed admiration for the university buildings, architectural designs, and modern technologies used in the facilities, noting that these achievements reflect a clear vision for reconstruction and the advancement of academic institutions.
