Two Research Papers Published by the Department of Earth Sciences in Scopus-Indexed Journals

Dr. Mohammed Al Riaydh, a faculty member in the Department of Earth Sciences at the Faculty of Science, has published two research papers in Scopus-indexed journals. This achievement is part of an international research collaboration under the Neogene research agreement for the As Sahabi and Jabal Zaltan region. It reflects the growing research momentum within the department and further strengthens the University of Benghazi‘s international academic presence.

The publication details are as follows:

The first paper was published in collaboration with Dr. Moftah El-Shawaihdi and researchers from the United States and Germany, titled:

“Taxonomic and biogeographic implications of Late Miocene–Pliocene Samotherium (Giraffidae) from As-Sahabi, Libya: morphometric and machine learning approaches”,

in the Journal of Vertebrate Palaeontology (Q1 in Scopus), published by Taylor & Francis.

The second paper was published in collaboration with researchers from the Senckenberg Research Institute and Natural History Museum, the French National Centre for Scientific Research, and the University of Poitiers, titled:

“Decoding As-Sahabi’s bovid postcranial fossils: A machine learning approach to palaeoecology and taxonomy”,

in Palaeobiodiversity and Palaeoenvironments (Q2 in Scopus).
