University of Benghazi Signs Strategic Memorandum of Understanding with Nature Scot

The University of Benghazi, under the leadership of Professor Eiz Eldeen Aldressi, has signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding with Scotland’s Nature Agency, NatureScot, a leading international institution in environmental protection and biodiversity.

This step reflects the University’s direction towards expanding its international scientific partnerships and advancing its academic and research standing at both regional and global levels.

The signing of the MoU comes in line with the vision of the University President, Professor Eiz Eldeen Aldressi, to establish cooperation with distinguished international scientific institutions, develop the research environment, and open new opportunities for faculty members, researchers, and postgraduate students.

The signing ceremony was held at the Faculty of Science as part of the scientific visit of Visiting Professor Dr David O’Brien, representative of NatureScot. The visit provided an opportunity for both sides to discuss ways to build a sustainable scientific partnership that supports joint research projects and academic exchange.

The MoU focuses on several strategic areas, most notably the development of joint academic supervision programmes for master’s theses and doctoral dissertations, supporting specialised research in genetic biodiversity and environmental sustainability, and enabling researchers and postgraduate students to benefit from internationally recognised expertise and modern technologies.

The agreement also represents an important step towards the internationalisation of higher education at the University of Benghazi by expanding its network of global academic cooperation, improving the quality of research outputs, and increasing opportunities for publication in peer-reviewed international journals, contributing to the University’s academic ranking indicators.
