President of the University of Benghazi Receives Philippine Chargé d’Affaires in Libya and Discusses Academic Cooperation
The President of the University of Benghazi, Prof. Eiz Eldeen Aldressi, received this afternoon the Chargé d’Affaires of the Republic of the Philippines to Libya, Mr. Rodrikos Atenisa, and his accompanying delegation. The meeting was attended by Dr. Ahmed Saad, Director of the International Cooperation Office at the University of Benghazi.
The meeting was also attended by a delegation from the Libyan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including Mr. Haitham Al-Keib, Director of the Asia and Australia Department; Mr. Adel Al-Farsi, Head of the Protocol Office in Benghazi; the Head of the Ports Section at the Protocol Department; and Mr. Younis Al-Barghathi, Attaché at the Asia and Australia Department.
The meeting discussed the possibility of opening up cooperation between the University of Benghazi and academic and research institutions in the Philippines, including student and faculty exchange programmes, and providing scholarships between the two parties, as part of implementing the agreement signed between the two countries in this regard.
During the visit, Prof. Aldressi presented an overview of the University of Benghazi, highlighting its history, academic programmes, and ongoing campus development. He emphasised recent upgrades in infrastructure, laboratories, and library facilities, which contribute to a supportive environment for learning, research, and innovation, and enhance the University’s capacity to host international students.
At the end of the meeting, the guests took a tour of several departments and offices at the General Administration Building to see the redevelopment and reconstruction efforts thanks to the Development and Reconstruction Fund.
