President of the University of Benghazi Receives Turkish Ambassador to Libya
Professor Eiz Eldeen Aldressi, President of the University of Benghazi, received this evening H.E. the Turkish Ambassador to Libya, Mr Güven Begeç, accompanied by the Embassy’s Third Secretary, Mr Mehmet Ölgen Genç, and the Embassy’s interpreter Amal Özbalp Azgur. The meeting was attended by Dr Ahmed Saad, Director of the Office of International Cooperation, Dr Ahmed Najm, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, and Dr Jamal Al-Hashem, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering.
Discussions focused on advancing academic relations and scientific cooperation between the University of Benghazi and Turkish educational and research institutions. The University President presented an overview of the University’s academic standing, alongside ongoing development and reconstruction projects supported by the Libya Development and Reconstruction Fund, aimed at enhancing the teaching and research environment.
Both sides reviewed existing joint programmes and activities between the University and several Turkish institutions, and explored opportunities to expand collaboration in academic training and professional development. The Turkish side also introduced proposed programmes for teaching the Turkish language at the University, supporting cultural and academic exchange between the two countries.
Professor Aldressi affirmed the University’s readiness to welcome Turkish students to study Arabic, further enhancing cultural ties and expanding avenues of cooperation.
The Turkish Ambassador expressed his country’s commitment to building stronger ties with the University and establishing effective partnerships with Libyan academic institutions, praising the University’s ongoing progress.
The meeting ended with the University President extending an official invitation to the Turkish Ambassador to attend the upcoming reopening of the University of Benghazi in the coming months, as part of efforts to advance academic cooperation between both sides.
