President of the University of Benghazi Discusses Research Cooperation and Future Work Plans with Italian Scientific Team

The President of the University of Benghazi, Professor Eiz Eldeen Aldressi, held a meeting with the Italian scientific team visiting the University, headed by Dr Rosario Ruggieri, President of the Hyblean Centre of Speleo-Hydrogeological Research (CIRS) in Italy. The meeting was attended by the Head of the Department of Earth Sciences at the Faculty of Science and the Acting Director of the International Cooperation Office.

At the beginning of the meeting, Professor Aldressi welcomed the members of the Italian team and praised the level of cooperation between the two sides. He underlined the importance of the international agreement between the University of Benghazi, the Hyblean Centre of Speleo-Hydrogeological Research (CIRS), and the University of Catania, noting its role in supporting scientific research and advancing international academic partnerships in line with the University’s objectives and research development plans.

For his part, Dr Rosario Ruggieri reviewed the main scientific outcomes achieved over the past years within the framework of the agreement. He also presented the future work plan and the next phases of cooperation, including the research programmes and activities planned for the coming period, aimed at promoting the exchange of expertise and supporting joint scientific projects between the institutions.

The meeting followed the conclusion of fieldwork carried out by the Italian team during its visit to the University of Benghazi, which lasted for more than a week. The field activities covered several sites on the outskirts of Benghazi and various areas of Al-Jabal Al-Akhdar, as part of the joint research and field study programmes.

At the close of the meeting, Professor Aldressi expressed his appreciation for the scientific efforts made and the outcomes achieved under the agreement. He reaffirmed the University of Benghazi’s commitment to continuing and developing this distinguished scientific cooperation in support of research and the University’s international presence.
