President of the University of Benghazi Receives High-Level British Delegation to Boost Academic and Research Cooperation
The President of the University of Benghazi, Professor Eiz Eldeen Aldressi, received a high-level delegation from the United Kingdom, in the presence of the Vice President for Community Service and Environment, Dr Yahya Lamloum; Acting Director of the International Cooperation Office, Dr Tareq Najm; and members of the Office, Dr Eiz Eldeen Busnina and Dr Ruwaida Al-Senini. The visit comes within the University’s efforts to enhance academic and research cooperation and expand engagement with leading international educational institutions.
The delegation included Mr Daniel Kawczynski, Chairman of the Libyan British Development Association and former Member of the UK House of Commons; Lord Duncan McNair, Member of the House of Lords; Mark Field, former Member of Parliament and former Minister of State for Asia and the Pacific; Tristan Peniston-Bird, expert in strategic communications and public affairs; Peter Meyer, Chairman of the Middle East Association in the United Kingdom and government affairs adviser; and Femi Bellay, businessman and specialist in UK–Africa relations.
The meeting discussed several areas related to developing cooperation between the University of Benghazi and major British universities and academic institutions. Both sides explored opportunities to implement academic exchange programmes, develop joint postgraduate studies, and launch collaborative research projects in modern fields and advanced technologies. The discussion also addressed support for training and capacity-building programmes for faculty members and students, contributing to enhancing the quality of the educational and research process.
The delegation also conducted a field tour of several academic, educational, and research facilities within the University, where they were introduced to the available capabilities, infrastructure, and modern equipment. Members of the delegation expressed their admiration for the noticeable development they observed, praising the University’s strategic vision and its commitment to keeping pace with developments in education and technology.
Following the visit, the President of the University stressed the importance of this step in supporting the University’s direction towards building effective and sustainable international partnerships, thereby strengthening its presence at both the regional and international levels. For their part, the delegation members expressed their aspiration to expand cooperation with the University of Benghazi in a manner that serves mutual interests and supports continued academic and scientific progress.
