The University of Benghazi concluded today the Training of Trainers programme in Active Learning, held under the SKILLS4EU project, in the presence of the President of the University of Benghazi, Professor Eiz Eldeen Aldressi.

 

The programme brought together a select group of faculty members from the Universities of Benghazi, Derna, Tobruk, and Omar Al-Mukhtar, as part of ongoing efforts to develop academic capacities and advance modern teaching methods across Libyan higher education institutions.

 

The training was implemented in cooperation with Expertise France and ESPRIT University in Tunisia, reflecting the University of Benghazi’s commitment to expanding international partnerships and benefiting from global academic expertise to improve the educational process.

 

The closing ceremony was attended by the Vice President for Scientific Affairs, Dr Khaled Al-Fadli; the Vice President for Medical Faculties, Prof. Miftah Younis; the Director of the Quality Assurance and Performance Evaluation Office, Dr Suleiman Rabih; and Dr Ruwaida Al-Senini, the project coordinator at the University of Benghazi.

 

The event also welcomed Ms Yousra Ben Naji, representative of Expertise France, and Ms Chama Al-Saddi, representative of ESPRIT University. The delegation toured several university facilities and scientific centres, where they reviewed the available educational and technical resources and the efforts underway to develop the academic and research environment.

 

The guests expressed their appreciation for the notable progress witnessed at the University of Benghazi, particularly in its educational infrastructure and scientific facilities. They also commended the university’s active academic engagement and its efforts to advance the quality of education and adopt modern teaching approaches aligned with international standards.

 

At the end of the programme, the Vice President for Scientific Affairs presented certificates of participation to the trainees in recognition of their commitment and active involvement throughout the training period. The programme aimed to prepare qualified academic staff capable of applying and disseminating active learning methodologies within Libyan higher education institutions.

 

This programme forms part of the University of Benghazi’s vision to build academic capacity, promote continuous professional development, and support the shift towards innovative teaching practices that contribute to improving higher education outcomes and raising the efficiency of the educational process in line with contemporary requirements.
